Traffic radar works by shining its microwave searchlight down the road. When you come in range, the microwave beam bounces off your car, and the radar antenna looks for the reflections.

El funcionamiento del radar se basa en un fenómeno físico denominado efecto Doppler y se refiere a la variación de la frecuencia que emite un emisor en movimiento. [...] Los radares de tráfico mandan una señal al coche que pasa y reciben una señal rebotada. En función de las diferencias de la frecuencia de la señal rebotada en el coche que pasa se puede calcular la velocidad.
